General Guidelines
- The page is monitored by the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office but not on a 24/7 basis. We will not be responding to private messages or comments regarding inquiries, crime reports, or other concerns. Please reach out directly to our office for any inquiries, information, or to report a crime.
- For emergencies, always call 911 immediately.
- If you have information related to a crime, please do not post it here. You may be putting yourself at risk of becoming a witness, subject to subpoena. For immediate concerns, contact the Sheriff’s Office directly or call 911.

- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or discriminatory language: Any content that attacks, belittles, or targets individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics will be removed. This also includes content that encourages or incites violence, harm, or discrimination.
- Obscenities, vulgarity, or offensive content: Posts that contain offensive language, slurs, explicit content, or inappropriate behavior will be deleted. We aim to maintain a family-friendly environment for all users, especially in a public forum.
- Violations of privacy or the legal rights of others: Content that shares private or sensitive information about individuals without consent, including addresses, phone numbers, or personal identifiers, will be removed. This also includes posts that infringe upon copyright or intellectual property rights.
- Spam, advertisements, or links to inappropriate websites: Any content that promotes products, services, or external websites, especially those unrelated to public safety or the purpose of this page, will be removed. Additionally, links to malicious websites or phishing attempts will not be tolerated.
- Disinformation, misinformation, or malinformation that could be harmful to persons or property: We will remove content that spreads false or misleading information, especially if it could jeopardize the safety, well-being, or property of individuals or the community. This includes posts that encourage panic, mislead the public on important safety or law enforcement issues, or promote harmful conspiracy theories.
Content Sharing
- Only authorized personnel from the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office may post photos or videos. We will not accept or allow posts from others, including images or videos related to law enforcement activities.
- While we encourage discussion, all comments must remain respectful and on-topic. Negative or offensive comments meant to provoke others will be removed. Disruptive behavior or "trolling" will result in immediate removal and banning from the page.
- Do not share personal or sensitive information about yourself or others on this page. This includes addresses, phone numbers, or details regarding criminal investigations.
- The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office reserves the right to amend or modify these terms at any time without notice. Any updates will be posted on this page.
